Newcastle Guide Continued

Newcastle and Gateshead have a wealth of history, art and culture between them. Grey Street, an imposing Georgian street sweeping down from Greys Monument towards the river Tyne, is often referred to as the 'most impressive facade in Britain'. Just over the water, next to the world famous Tyne Bridge, is the iconic building The Sage Gateshead music centre. Next to that is the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, housed in the former Baltic Flour Mill, from which you can walk on foot back over the Tyne to Newcastle on the Gateshead Millenium Bridge.

Cinema enthusiasts will love the Tyneside Cinema on Pilgrim Street, showing the very best independent films from around the world, with a smattering of big budget box office hits thrown in for good measure.
